Historical events Abyaneh(Viuna)

The worst catastrophic flood in Abyaneh's history 22 July 1956. The village of Abyaneh and other neighboring villages were flooded.

The blue line shows how torrential rain fell on the high hills of Abyaneh one evening late in the afternoon on July 22, 1956 in the hottest month of that year. Within hours, the rain developed into a major flood, carrying with it the mountain sediment and destroying the farmland. apple farms, residential buildings and everything else on its way from Abyaneh, Tare, Borz, Komjan, Yarand and Hamnjan, down towards the Badrood region a distance of about 25 kilometers.

After the flood crushed the Abyaneh plain, it carried with it trees and wheat mud, stones, mud and all the gardens in its path in the valley. The flood created with its force an approximately 5 meter deep and 10 meter wide valley a distance of about 25 kilometers in the meadows and gardens after destroying and uprooting the strong trees of spruce, plantain and walnut. Now that the devastating power of the flood had reached its peak, the residential buildings were demolished on their way down. People, cows, large numbers of sheep, goats lost their lives and were swept away in the terrifying flood. The effects of the damage are still in place. The Abyaneh village has gone through changes over time

Changes have affected the social structure. Some occupational roles have disappeared completely. Young people have moved out, to apply for education in large cities and abroad. But the interest in their traditions, not only diminished but does everything to preserve the old traditions - cooking, clothing style, language, and the old honors and customs. Thanks to these young people and their pride that makes Abyaneh will always be Abyaneh (Viuna) and Abyanei will always be Viunj.

Ruined Girls' and Boys' High School

One get a stomach ache when you look at the ruined high school. The unique school was a symbol of pride, the view of personal development regardless of gender. We think the school is still beautiful even though it has been in ruins for more than three decades. In this school, both girls and boys attended the same school and in the same class without creating stumbling blocks in between. There is still hope among the people that someday the sign "Yusuf Abyaneh Girls' and Boys' High School" will be made visible again, a symbolic sign of freedom and pride.. Images: myabyaneh.ir

Year 2022, Yusuf Abyaneh Girls' and Boys' High School

Oct 2022, the high school's sign was painted over with black paint for decades. Now the sign has regained its charm. A school that was and is the village's pride of a cultural building that led to higher education for more than 100 students (girls and boys). These students today have at least a high academic education. Image source: @kohanviuna 20221013.

The High School in its glorified time

High school in Abyaneh (Viuna) for girls and boys, at its peak year 1970. A unique blend of both genders in a traditional village. It shows an unparalleled human outlook that it has not been possible to conduct schooling in this form in other parts of the country's schools.

Well-known personalities who have meant for Abyaneh (Viuna's) development and appearance in and out is Mr. Yousefi Abyaneh. One of many who has with his great generosity financed costs for construction of the Health Care, Electrical Power and High SchoolThe photo is said to have been taken in 1976. I wonder if these students are the last group to attend the school before it was closed for good. Image source: @kohanviuna.

Daneshvari Abyaneh Primary School

The elementary school has gone through changes through the ages. It was built around the 1940s and inaugurated in 1946.

The old cemetery is completely lost!

At this cemetery the village built ground school, High school and Health center. A museum has also been built in recent decades. The old Hajatgah congregation is visible in the background. This old image should be Ca 50-60 years agoImage: Private album with permission.

Will the Danshvari school remain, or? If it is not converted for example into a third commercial hotel or into some other useful activity.

The number of students has decreased drastically compared to 1957 onwards in Daneshvari Abyaneh elementary school. Why? This is due to great opportunities for studies in the cities. Their parents have moved out and settled in bigger cities. The opportunities have meant that many students prefer to also move to Western countries for higher education than their own country offers. The entire population of Abyaneh decreased in real terms. A few elders are still left to tend the farm. The question is whether they have the strength to complete their mission. The two images show Daneshvari Abyaneh Elementary school and its surroundingsImage source: @kohanviuna 2022.  The black and white photo above students and their teacher in 1948,  by @dariuyn, Kobra Taghipor.
