Nature in Abyaneh(Viuna)
Nature has great variations, depending on the seasons. Cold winters are hard as well as hot summers. But in the spring and autumn the climate is pleasant. Keeping the environment clean is a problem as tourism has gone out of control, not least the management of household waste. Local authorities have placed hygienic rubbish bins in suitable places, but how well waste is to be handled in its entirety is a major responsibility of the people in the first place and of the elected local authorities.
Environmental impact on Nature in Abyaneh(Viuna)
The nature of Abyaneh has recently been affected by internal and external circumstances such as tourism, which has not benefited the people of Abyaneh. Even the land to build their own house has not gone unnoticed either. Expectations and demand for land are high today. Large areas of the land are used by greedy business owners to expand their operations, such as hotel chains. These types of constructions are foreign to the beautiful surrounding nature. They are actually abusing their local influence for personal gain. Long-term planning is needed to prevent modernism from taking over the norms and form of the old ancient building. The most important thing of all is waste management. This also requires long-term planning for collection, recycling and that the waste is transported to a treatment plant for recycling or disposal, landfill. This applies to waste from households but also similar waste from, for example, restaurants and hotel chains, etc. Pesticides are sprayed on apple and plum trees. What if toxic substances reach out into nature. Can the people of Abyaneh alone create the sustainable future for the next generations.

It can take up to 400 years for nature to break down plastic according to confirmed studies and there may be microplastics left that are never completely broken down. Water flowing in streams along the maple trees was previously clean and drinkable. Today, the stream is full of plastic bags and other environmentally hazardous waste. Local population openly complains about the pressure on the domestic tourists as one of the reasons that the environment is so dirty. They speak of an unsustainable situation that exposes the whole society to impurities, injuries and diseases. It is wise to always have a bottle of natural mineral water (spring water) with you. Despite the efforts made by the municipality to get rid of pollution, the villagers demand drastic and long-term measures to overcome the problem. If 200 hundred people live in Abyaneh as claimed in the media how can one expect to overcome the continuous problem caused by tourists, considering the astronomical number of visitors per day/month and year? Can the problem of the environment be solved only with a handful of hired labor and the efforts of volunteer villagers? Image source: @KohanDiyar(viuna) Oktober 2023
Concluding remarks:
Local authorities, together with superiors, have no alternative but to create the conditions for overcoming problems that threaten the environment and the health of its inhabitants. We have a hard time believing in a bright and sustainable future for the people of Abyaneh if nothing is done now.

Environmental pollution
2024
Abyaneh not only has concerns with unrestrained tourists both internal and external, but the big threat to the environment is that they themselves, when building houses or renovating the old houses, shovel away their rubbish (plastic materials, glass, metal objects, chemicals etc) straight into a clean environment with rare plant species. The contaminated mass is leveled on the ground to be buried.
According to confirmed studies, it can take up to 400 years for nature to break down plastic and similar materials. There may be microplastics left that never break down completely.
Many of Abyaneheh's graduates have studied the environment and its impact and consequences on various universities. Yet they are tied back and are unable to prevent their own environment being sacrificed at the expense of a lack of understanding of the environment in which they live and leaving behind an unmanageable and expensively polluted environment for future generations. There is a lack of common sense. Almost everyone good at criticizing local authorities for what is happening in their environment but taking the initiative themselves and doing something about the problem is neither heard nor seen or done.
